Turkey, The Board Directors Association, Türkiye (BDA also known as YÜD – Yönetim Kurulu Üyeleri Derneği) established in 2017, emphasizes the significance of active boards of directors as a primary component of corporate governance. Membership started with only Board Directors and CEOs as members, but in 2022 started accepting corporate members from both private and public company universe. BDA’s mission is to elevate and enhance board performance by equipping directors with relevant insights through awareness generation, and by engaging them with a peerless network to achieve long-term professional and corporate value creation. BDA aims to develop key competencies such as the composition, agenda, the authority to create and operate committees, and the capacity to evaluate risks or opportunities. It also fosters the transparency and accountability, and sustainable growth of the boards of directors authorized to determine the fate of a company. BDA organizes activities such as webinars, round-tables, director education programs, surveys, knowledge transfer and networking activities to promote the professional development of board directors in Türkiye and the region.
